At Diestel, creating premium quality turkey and turkey products begins with sourcing the grains we mill on our ranch and continues throughout every aspect of our operation. We source the highest-quality grains, mill our own feed, give our animals extra time to grow naturally, use multiple breeds to ensure a fully mature turkey at every weight range, and treat our animals with compassion. Our customers say Diestel turkeys have a rich “old-fashioned flavor,” incredible tenderness, and texture.

Slow Grown in a natural environment
Diestel turkeys enjoy the freedom of being slow grown in the clean Sierra Nevada Foothills where they are raised almost twice as long and with four times as much space as conventional birds. We give turkeys time to be turkeys, which means they develop premium texture and flavor naturally.
We feed a 100% vegetarian diet
Since 1956, when Grandpa Jack built the first feed mill on our ranch, we have been sourcing the best corn and soy, which we mill ourselves. We feed a 100% vegetarian diet and ensure that our feed never contains antibiotics, growth enhancers, hormones, gluten (wheat free), animal by-products and DDG’s (dried distillers grains). We also make the commitment to never least-cost our feed. We are proud to be one of the last turkey producers in the Western United States to take the extra time and attention required to mill our own feed.
Humanely Raised & Harvested
Diestel turkeys are raised sustainably and humanely with plenty of room both indoors and outdoors. In fact, we were the first turkey producer in the country to obtain a GAP 5+ Rating. This is the very highest rating in the GAP system! Our birds are harvested in our own USDA-inspected processing facility, where we have always possessed incredible respect for our animals.
Diestel’s Own Breeds
We use many different breeds of turkeys, which ensures the turkeys are fully matured at their naturally intended weight. In comparison, most in the industry use only one standard breed to fill a 10-40+ pound weight range. This is yet another Diestel-specific approach that allows us to consistently produce more naturally flavorful turkeys. Diestel turkeys provide excellent value with more meat, less fat, and less water. We allow turkeys to develop naturally, resulting in a more tender and juicy old-fashioned turkey flavor.
