10/31/14 Market Update from the WCPM Buyer's Desk
Beef- Ribs are starting to gain strength and increases are expected in the upcoming weeks. Tenderloins are steady and expectations are for them to stay fairly steady in early November. Chucks/Round/Thin Meats are all steady going into next week. Cattle weights are still heavy and lights ribs still are going for a large premium over heavies.
Chicken- Breasts continue slight drop into next week. Thigh meat and WOGS remain steady. Wings remain strong.
Pork- Bacon, bellies, butts, loins all trending down a bit. This should steady or continue to trend down slightly.
Lamb- Prices are steady to up slightly across the board. Imported racks are scarce so domestic racks will be on the rise soon.
Veal- All cuts continue to rise sharply. Racks were $17.40 2 weeks ago from the packer, they will be over $18.00 next week. All cuts are up between 10 and 50 cents
Shrimp- Still waiting on supply. No u10 or u12 available yet so prices on u15 rose 10-25 cents last week. Not much large size P&D available yet either.
